ARW7s - Dulani and Theekshana's Double secures the plate for Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka women's team finished strong as they beat Thai women 22 - 10 in the plate finals of the first leg in Asia Rugby Women's Series.

It was a better performance by the ladies especially when they could not beat Thailand at the Borneo 7s, failed to win twice in March. 

Dulani Pallikondage scored two tries one in the first half followed by the last second in the second half as she went coast to coast hammering down her engine. Sri Lanka led the half time 10 - 05 where as the Thai capitasied the numerical advantage with the former captain Thanuja Weerakkody was sin-binned for a dilebarate knock-on.

Dulani ealry on made a fumble with her butter fingers on but stood up astonishing in this game with her pace and mind-set. Theekshana Liyanage made a another stunning run to score the second try before half time.

It was a robust start in the second half Ayessha Kaluarachchi had 3 v 1 to her left but was intercepted by Thai payer Liyampat. As a result Thai just felt short by a meter to score the try which was denied by Charani Theekshana's valiant chase.

However, Sri Lanka conceded too many penalties giving away possession. Dulani once again made a sensational sprint to score her second whilst Liyanage score the final nail in the coffin to secure the 5th position for the ladies.
