AR7s Series - Dinuk steers Tuskers to win over Chinese Taipei

Sri Lanka Tuskers finished second in the pool after beating Chinese Taipei 33 - 12 and will meet Hong Kong in the cup semifinal at 1.04 pm SL time.

It was an under 23 squad that started resting the seniors on the bench by coach Peter Woods for the all important semifinal. Former St. Anthony's captain and U20 player Dinuk Amerasinghe was outstanding as he scored two brilliant tries and has been impressive on his senior debut.

It was Buddima Piyarathne who scored the first from the corner using his pace carving out-wide. Kevin Dixon added the extras. Followed by a turnover and two passes from Adeesha Weerathunga to Sudam Sooriarachchi found the big man Amerasinghe who looked threatening as he scored the Tuskers second try.

From a set line-out yet again Amerasinghe claimed the ball from Sooriarachchi's throw and bulldozed his way escaping through three (3) tackles to score his second and third try of this tournament thus far. Just on the half time hooter it was a cat and mouse flurry by both teams but Taipei had the momentum to score a try was denied by a knock-on.

The second half was a shaky and wobbly start for the Tuskers allowing Taipei to score back to back tries. Dixon tried his magic with his dancing footwork and found Gayan Weerarathne who's off-load was not accurate to his club mate Danush Dayan as it found touch. 

However, the latter half was controlled by the Tuskers and Weerathunga combined with a switch move with Dayan who signed his name on the scoring sheet. Former U20 captain Naveen Henakankanamage finished off with the final try with courtesy of the captain Srinath Sooriyabandara's off-load.
