The first leg of Asia Rugby Women;s Sevens Series will kick off tomorrow at the Hong Kong Football Club. Sri Lanka will meet Kazakhstan on their opener.
Sri Lanka women's sevens so far only played the Borneo 7s competition this year way back in March. Where they met Thailand and Hong Kong. However, the women's missed out the Asian Games where as Japan retained the Gold whilst China with the Silver and Kazakhstan with the Bronze.
Newly appointed Captain Sandika Hemakumari is confident of her team to put a heavy task against the Bronze medalist in their opener.
Meanwhile, coach Sudath Sampath said "We analysed our games against Kazakhstan last year and how they played in the Asian Games, they are very physical team and we have a game plan in our mind to pass the first hurdle.
"This bunch of girls can beat any team if they can concentrate the 14 minutes and make minimal mistakes, obviously it will be a hard fight against them (Kazakhstan) and China but we are ready to face it, that is what we trained for and i have the belief in girls who will give the best challenge." added the head coach Sampath
