Marija, Kumara and Mr. Sri Lanka in to the U20 set up

Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) made few changes to assist with the national U20 sevens team who will compete in the Asia sevens next month in Hong Kong.

Fazil Marija, Dinesh Kumara and Duminda De Silva will be the new recruits to help the Nilfer Ibrahim's national U20 sevens team. Assistant coach, trainer and the high performance manager would be their respective roles which will kick off from coming Monday.

Marija needs no introduction as he was been the best outside half in the last decade playing for the hill capital team. He led Sr Lanka both in XV's and 7s and has been a role model for many budding youngsters. Recently he was appointed as the coach of Kandy SC 7s team which won the 1st leg of Dialog Rugby Club 7s.

However, with his new role Marija said that  "I'm happy to assist Nilfer and the U20 boys, It's a great honour and i believe i have something to give to this youngsters, Nilfer's coaching experience will help us as a team to our success."

Dinesh Kumara currently involved with St. Joseph's College and CH&FC, will work as the trainer of the junior Tuskers. Former CH&FC, CR&FC, Kandy SC and Havelocks winger has been travelling overseas to gain knowledge in the Strenght & Conditioning courses since he hung up his boots. Eventually his effort saw many scuccess in the recent past, he was also asked to help the senior national sevens team two years back under former coach Matt Turner.  

Former Mr. Sri Lanka and the double international in rugby and basketball Duminda De Silva will overlook as the high performance manager. Silva also played for Kandy SC and CR&FC whilst he was pursuing his modeling career to become Mr. Sri Lanka in 1999.
