Havelock SC 48 points
Navy SC 19 points
Havelock Sports Club pulled off a magnificent 48/19 win over
the Sailors and booked their berth as the 4th and the last team
to enter the semi-finals. With the win for Havies at Racecourse they will be
the only Club to be in the last 4 along with the three services teams namely,
Police SC, Army SC and Air Force SC.
At the short breather Park Club led 36/0.
Havies played well in the initial half while the Sailors did
well in the later half. But the points collected by the Park Club in the first
half was too much for them to recover. For the Park Club Riza Mubarak, Mithun
Hapugoda and Chamara Dabare played their hearts out while for the Sailors
Chathura Seneviratne and skipper Thilina Weerasinghe stood out.
Havies drew first blood through their speedy winger, Chamara
Dabare. Riza added the extras. Usual second half entry, Mithun Hapugoda did the
magic in the first half this time. His nippy playing caught the entire Navy
side foxed as he touched down, Riza added the extras. Next was Umesh Madushan
try with Riza added the extras. With Navy losing out on Dinusha Chathuranga for
"Yellow Card" which allowed Riza to put over an easy penalty. Theekshana
Dassanayake and Mithun Pagugoda tries took the Park Club in to short breather
at 36/0.
After the turn around Navy scored their first points through
Kasun de Silva. Chathura Seneviratne added the extras. Dabare scored his second
try but the Sailors hit back through the former Joes player, Chathura
Seneviratne. Thilina Weerasinghe added the extras. There was time for one more
try for both teams. Navy scored through Raveen De Silva while the Park Club
scored through Niroshan Fernando.
