Kandy SC 31 points
CH & FC 13 points
Kandy Sports Club put up a brilliant second half rally when
they went passed CH & FC by 31 points (4 tries, 4 conversions, 1 penalty)
to 13 points (1 try, 1 conversion, 1 penalty, 1 drop goal) at the Nittawela
Rugby Stadium.
At the short breather it was CH who led 6/3.
CH settled well in the initial half playing some attacking
rugby which kept Kandy to defend most part of the half. Unlike in other matches
Kandy took time to settle down. Through three defeats to Havies, CH and Army
the Up Country outfit looked a yard slower and little low in their confidence.
But come the second half and changing of ends did the trick for Kandy attacking
towards the Club end. This win will give a world of difference for them before
they meet the Park Club for the third time this season but will miss their home
fans as this encounter will be played in Colombo. Return of Yakoob Ali and
lightning paced Anurudha Wilwara did the trick for them.
For CH & FC, Muthuthahthri, Yoshitha and Anuradha Herath
stood out while for Kandy their prop forward, Yakoob Ali. Nigel Ratwatte,
Ranjan and Wilwara stood out.
CH scored one penalty, one drop goal, try and try conversion
all points by Samuel Maduwantha while for Kandy their tries were scored by
Nigel Ratwatte (2), Wilwara (1) and Thilina (1). Thilina converted all four of
the tries plus put over a penalty.
Referee Charlie Brown (Singapore)
Kandy will play the Havies is in the Grand Finale with the
winner take the trophy. In case If the game ends in a draw or Havies win,
then they will safe keep the League at the Park in Colombo after a lapse of
several years.
