Promoting Rugby at grass root level continues

After a short break from a one month tour across the country promoting rugby, the 2^nd round has now begun. Sri Lanka Rugby continue to join hands with MTV / MBC Network to introduce, promote and develop rugby at the grass root level, at Schools at all districts and provinces around the country.

MTV / MBC Network are conducting educational and sports promoting programs to rural schools on a regular basis. And Sri Lanka Rugby has been invited to join hands in this venture.

Today (22^nd February), the team visited Sandalankawa, Kurunagala in the North Western Province, which is in the Dankotuwa educational zone.

Sandalanka National College who participated with 285 boys and 295 girls was the location for the program. Pannala National College (70 boys, 56girls) and Wekada Maha Vidyalaya (18 boys, 22girls) also participated. There were a total of 746 students.

The age groups ranged from 12 to 20 years of age. Dignitaries from MTV / MBC Network, Principles from Schools, representatives from government institutions and sports bodies were present.

The program was conducted by the Sri Lanka Rugby coaching and development unit. This program will continue every month in identified locations.
