The introduction programs to learn Rugby reached
Kurunagala in the North Western Province on the 3rd of February. Sri
Lanka Rugby and MTV / MBC Network are carrying
out an island wide campaign to promote and develop rugby at the grass root
level, starting from Schools at all districts and provinces around the country.
Kurunegala, named after the
Elephant rock ,
is generally a dry zone. It is
a major city in Sri Lanka, and
is the capital city of the North Western
Province and the Kurunegala District.
The program was conducted at Wayamba
Royal College, and 14 Schools participated,
totaling 157 boys and girls.
The schools were Wayamba Royal College (57 boys), Maliyadewa
College (04 boys), Thiragama Maha Vidyalaya (06 boys), Kalugamuwa Maha Vidyalaya
(04 boys, 03 girls), Dematagolla Vidyalaya (09 girls), Lakdas de Mel Vidyalaya
(05 boys, 04 girls), Holly Family Balika Vidyalaya (12 girls),
Hisbulla Central College (06 boys), Rathmalgoda Maha Vidyalaya (05
boys, 01 girl), Alakoladeniya JS (01 boy, 07 girls), Maliyadewa Girls College
12 girls), Kuliyapitiya Central College (04 girls), Janadhipathi Balika
Vidyalaya (08 girls) and Aswedduma Kanishta Vidyalaya (02 boys, 07 girls). |
Sri Lanka Navy Coaches conducted
the introductory program for Sri Lanka Rugby.
The next stop is Kegalle.
