Newly
appointed Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) Head Rizly Illyas is counting on Dialog’s
partnership as their lead sponsor to take the game to the next level in these
challenging times owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. Illyas believes that the
leading sports sponsor, Dialog, will step up to support SLR’s proposed changes
in the future under his watch.
“Dialog
Axiata has consistently supported Sri Lanka men’s rugby since 2012 and this
year, they have included schools rugby to their portfolio. Dialog’s association
with SLR too has played a role to position its brand in pole position in the
fiercely competitive telecom industry. We have a highly practical vision to be
amongst the top three in Asia. We need a sound sponsorship backing for that,”
Illyas told The Morning Sports.
“SLR will be
presenting a budget to Dialog, based on a new, exciting programme for local and
provincial tournaments as well as for overall rugby development. The new
committee’s focus will be on the middle-layer Junior Academy for U-21, U-24,
‘B’ Division, and multiple Sevens tournaments. In order to successfully execute
the proposed changes, SLR needs a powerhouse to support it,” Illyas noted,
adding: “We’re going to look up to Dialog to step up and provide that
additional fire power.”
