Dialog Rugby League 2019/20
Army SC
convincingly beat Air Force 28 points to 13 at the Air Force grounds in the
Dialog Rugby league over the weekend.
Early into the game Army scored first winning a penalty with
Chamath Fernando adding the 3 points. Air Force though came back winning a penalty
as well which was converted by Gayantha Iddamalgoda. Scores read 3 all.
It was a slow moving game because of extreme heat. Air
force were down to 14 men. And Army took advantage to score their first try
trough Madushka Chandrasekara.
Air Force reduced the deficit with yet another penalty
from Gayantha Iddamalgoda next. At half time scores were 08 points to 06 in favour
of Army.
The second half started well for Army when Fijian Tomasi
Caqusau scored after the backs controlled play. Fernando could not add the
extras. 13 points to 06 Army were leading.
Powerful James Tuteovuya next scored for Air Force from an
interception. Gayantha Iddamalgoda added the extras to equal the points to 13
all.
There were several mistakes by both sides. Army next
scored when Ashan Bandara touched down. The conversion was not successful once
again. 18 to 13 Army lead.
Air force showed lots of indiscipline and got yet another
yellow card. Army took advantage in the rolling maul to score through Aravinda
Karunaratne. Once again the conversion was missed. 23 to 13 Army lead.
Sachin Gamage was next to score for Army after more
mistakes by the opposition. The conversion was missed again, the 5th
in the game.
There wasn’t any more points scored for both teams as the
game came to an end. It was a stop play affair which went into lots of extra
time. Air force faced another disappointing defeat at home.
