Dialog Rugby League 2019/20
Kandy SC continued their success
with anther dominating victory in the Dialog Rugby League over CH & FC,
beating them 45 points to 15 at Nittawela.
Kandy drew first blood with Tharinda Ratwatte slotting over
a penalty in the 7th minute to put the host in the lead with 3 points.
The next scoring opportunity took a while to come for
both teams after several attempts. It was Buddhima Piyarathne who managed to
score under the post after a long sprint for Kandy. Tharinda Ratwatte added the
extras. Kandy in front 10 nil.
Kandy scored their second try of the game on the brink of
half time when Tharindu Chathuranga went over the line. Tharinda Ratwatte made the
conversion cleanly. 17 points to nil at half time in favor of Kandy.
Soon as the 2nd half started Kandy scored
through Buwaneka Udangamuwa. Tharinda Rawatte added the 2 extra points. 24 nil,
Kandy leading.
Finally CH got points on the board when Samuel Maduwantha
added 3 points in a straight forward penalty.
Soon after that CH scored their 1st try of the
game when Prasad Madushanka went over the whitewash. Samual Maduwantha failed
to convert. 24 to 08 Kandy leading.
Thereafter Ashan Darling was sent to the bin for a high
tackle on Samuel Maduwantha, which backfired on the host.
CH took advantage and scored again when Nishon Perera
went over the whitewash. Samuel Maduwantha converted cleanly. 15 to 24 CH were
trailing.
Kandy came back strongly when Ali Mohamed touched down
for the hosts. Tharinda Ratwatte made no mistake with the conversion.
Matheesha Sarathchandra for CH was sent to the sin bin next
when both teams started to play some aggressive rugby. Kandy was quick to
capitalize on the advantage when Mohamed Ali scored his 2nd try of
the game. Tharinda Ratwatte added the extras. 38 to 15 Kandy lead.
CH got another yellow card when Lankesh Perera was sent
to the bin. This enabled Sashika Jayawardane to score another try for the
hosts. Tharinda Ratwatte converted yet again to end a fantastic day for himself
and Kandy.
Kandy hold on to their unbeaten record, while CH & FC
struggle to get wins on the board.
