Police stay in 2nd place with win over CH & FC

Dialog Rugby League 2019/20

Police SC continued their excellent season with yet another win in the Dialog Rugby League. The win came against CH & FC at the Racecourse grounds. This was the first game of the 2nd round for both teams.

Police opened scoring first through an interception from scrum-half Suranga Kasun who sprinted away to touch down. Janith Chandimal put in the conversion to give Police a 07 point lead.

CH came back strongly with Nishon Perera touching down. Soon after that Shehan Dias went over the line for the host to put them in the lead. Both conversions were missed by Samuel Maduwantha. 10 points to 07 CH leading.

Police thereafter won a penalty due to several mistakes from CH which resulted in 3 points through a perfect kick from Janith Chandimal. Scores level 10 all.

Police played the running game with their backs dominating to give Sachith Silva the opportunity to score under the post. Janith Chandimal added the extra points. Police in the lead 17 points to 10.

Police continued to dominated with newly recruited Fijian Eroni Vucargo who replaced Emosi Vunivosa, breaking through the CH defense to touch down under the post. Janith Chandimal converted cleanly. At half time scores were 24 to 10 in favour of Police.

CH rejuvenated and came strong at Police in the start of the second half. Sathya Ranathunga powered his way through the tight Police defense to touch down. Samuel Maduwantha this time added the extras. 24 to 17 Police leading. 

Police next won a penalty which Janith Chandimal converted to extend the lead for Police.  

Avishka Lee was sent to the sin-bin for tackling a play in the air. Police took advantage and Muammar Deen went over to score. Janith Chandimal missed the conversion. 32 to 17 Police leading.

Police held on to the lead and CH could not penetrate the Police defense. Another big win for Police who stay in 2nd place in the points table. CH & FC continue their poor season with yet another loss.
