Dialog Rugby League 2019/20
Police SC continued their good form going on to
defeat Air Force SC 36 points to 15 in the Dialog Rugby League match played at
the Air Force rounds in Ratmalana.
Police dominated play initially with their forwards
coming into the game early. The first try of the game came through Fijian Emosi
Vunivosa who crushed his way over the line. Nalin Kumara converted cleanly to
put 07 points on the board for Police.
Thereafter Police front-rower Lahiru Pavithra was sent to
the bin for a dangerous tackle giving Air Force advantage. The airman threaten
to score several times, but could not put points on the board. Ending a calm 1st
half with Police leading 07 points to Nil.
Both teams came
hard in the 2nd half with Air force scoring first through Shashika
Fernando from the back of the maul when he touched down for the Airmen.
Police scored quickly counter attacking with center Emosi
Vunivosa in action, which led to Udara Suriyapperuma scoring the second try for
Police. The conversion was missed. Police leading 12 points to 05.
Emosi Vunivosa once again was in action opening gaps in
the Air Force defense. This time opening a hole for Sachith Silva to dive over
in the corner for the third try. Nalin Kumara this time made the conversion cleanly
to take Police to 19 points.
Police continued dominance with some speedy play to give
winger Sachith Silva the opportunity to score his second try. Nalin Kumara made
no mistake with conversion. Police had a big lead, 26 to 05.
Police seemed to have sealed the game with the bonus
point try and kept Air force at bay. Nalin Kumara also got the opportunity for
a penalty which he obliged with.
Hashan Fernando for Police was sent to the bin. Air Force
capitalized to score when Shashika Fernando powered over from the tail of the
maul.
Police though continued to put pressure and found a gap
for Vihanga Pivithuru to score. Nalin kumara added the extras. In the final moments
Faris Ali touched down for the home team. But it ended in another big defeat
for Air force still looking for their first win in the Dialog Rugby League.
