Dialog Rugby League 2019/20
Police SC kicked off 2020 with a comfortable win
against CH & FC at Police Park, winning the game by 36 points to 22 in the
Dialog Rugby League.
Police SC opened scoring in a fast moving game with a try
from Emosi Vunivosa who took the ball from the ruck to touch down. The try was
not converted.
CH & FC came back with a try through Sajith Saranga
who crossed over the try line to equal scores. Hirusha Sampath failed to
convert, leaving the scores at 5 all.
Police SC who dominated proceedings in the beginning loss
ground when Janith Chanaka was sent to the sin bin. This allowed CH to break
through with a try from Prasad Madushanka. Once again the conversion was not successful.
At half time CH
& FC lead 10 points to 05.
The second half started off well for Police SC with replacement
Janith Chandimal scoring and converting himself to give police the lead, 12
points to 10.
Soon after that Emosi Vunivosa scored again to extend the
lead. Chandimal was successful with the conversion.
Skipper Iroshan Silva together with his brother Sachith
Silva contributed to score once again for Police and extend the lead to 24
points, a 14 point lead over CH.
CH & FC cut the lead with Sathya Ranthunga going over
the line for a try which was converted by Sudam Sooriyarachchi. But Police came
back quickly with a try through Janith Chanaka. Sachith Silva added the extra 2
points. Scores read 31 to 17, Police leading.
Towards the end of the game Vunivosa received a yellow
card and was sent to the sin bin. This gave CH the opportunity to score when
Dushmantha Priyadharshana touched down.
In the final moments Police sealed victory with a 2nd
try for the game from Iroshan Silva. It was at the end a comfortable win for
Police SC 36 points to 22 over CH & FC.
