Kandy SC continued their winning streak to beat
Police SC 34 points to 13 at Police Park in the Dialog Rugby League over the

Police who were high on confidence came into the game
positively, but were soon on the back foot as Lasitha Attanagoda scored within
the first five minutes of the game for the visitors. Tarinda Ratwatta made no
mistake with the extras to put Kandy 7 points ahead.
A few minutes later Yohan Perera scored 3-points through
a penalty under the post for the host. But it did not last long as Tarinda
Ratwatta put through another penalty to take Kandy to 10 points.
The visitors soon extended their lead with a try from
Lavanga Perera who went through the weak defense of the opposition to go over the
line. Tarinda Ratwatta added the extra points to put Kandy in a comfortable 17
- 03 lead.
Even though Buddima Piyarathne and Srinath Sooriyabandara
were both sent to the bin, Police could not capitalize and went into half time
14 points behind Kandy.
Hooker Rasith Silva scored for Police to start of the 2nd
half well, as he found himself diving over the white-wash from the tail of a
maul. Janith Chandimal missed an important conversion. Kandy was still in the
lead 17 - 08.
Dilushka Dange who was brought into this game scored
twice for Kandy in quick time to further enhance their lead. Tarinda Ratwatta
failed to convert both tries. But still Kandy had a comfortable lead. Police at
this stage were in tatters. Kandy leading 27 - 08.
Chamika Perera for Kandy was sent to the bin, and Kandy
were down to 14 men at this stage. Police took advantage and soon after that full
back Kasun Suranga with the support of Emosi Vunivosa scored a brilliant try to
close the gap for Police.
But the momentum did not last long as Buddima Piyarathne scored
for Kandy, and Tarinda Ratwatta added the extras this time.
Kandy held on to the lead, and finish 2019 unbeaten. As
