Following a sensational win last year, Sri Lanka Women’s Rugby 7’s outfit head to familiar territory with high hopes of retaining their title from 2017. Borneo 7s will commence from 16th - 18th March 2018, from Sandakan, Malaysia.
The Sri Lanka women's sevens team will travel to Borneo with intentions of retaining their title and will surely pose a threat as they return to defend their title from last year.
This team have had their sights firmly set on retaining this title since last September as they began preparation and have since been conditioning themselves.
Furthermore, not only the chance of retention but the chance for redemption against Hong Kong is on the line for the ladies.
Captaincy, Randika Kumudumali mentioned about their chance of redemption against Hong Kong "Last year we lost in the plate final of the Asia sevens series to Hong Kong and we believe we will get right this year"
The backroom staff have taken the route of the players for their experience as only three changes have been made since Sanjeewani de Silva, Tanuja Weerakkody and Wasana Weerakkody all miss out due to injuries.
Sudath Sampath and Dilan Soyza have been will be the coach and the trainer respectively as their exceeded expectations following their arrival at the helm. Also men's team trainer Nic Groube from Crusaders, New Zealand also sharing his impetus to the ladies team.
