Sri Lanka are set to leave to China for the 2nd
Leg of the Asia Rugby 7's series 2019.
A 13 member squad has been named under the
captaincy of Danush Dayan. Srinath Sooriyabandara, Anuradha
Herath, Nishon Perera and Sachith Silva are the players to miss out from the 1st
leg where Sri Lanka ended up in 5th place after winning the plate
final against Philippines.
Unfortunately star player Srinath Sooriyabandara who performed well in
the 1st leg is out with injury. Adeesha Weerathunga,
Gamunu Chethiya, Iroshan Silva and Thilina Bandara have been selected for the 2nd
leg with Sri Lanka looking forward to a better performance.
Coach
Matt Lee will be in charge once again. Also on tour will be Rohan Chinthaka
(Manager), Tharaka Vithanage (Physio), Nalaka
Weerakkody (Consulter) and R.A Hettiarachchi.
The Asia Rugby Series 2nd Leg will be held at the
Huizhou Olympic Stadium, Huizhou, Guangdong, China on the 14th and
15th September. With the 3rd leg scheduled to be held in
Colombo on 28th and 29th September.
Japan, Hong Kong, Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka,
People's Republic of China, Malaysia and Chinese Taipei will be the teams
involved in the 2nd leg of the Men’s segment.
