Sri Lankan Men's outfit led by Srinarth Sooriyabandara kept their participation of the Hong Kong Sevens 2019 hopes alive when they won both their group encounters against China (19/12) and Taipei (43/0) at the Asian Sevens 2018 Third leg at the Racecourse grounds.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan Women beat South Korea and lost out to Hong Kong, which means their chances of a Cup Semi-final had faded away. This is bad news for Women's rugby as they will lose out on the Hong Kong Sevens 2019 berth. Hong Kong Men's scored the highest aggregate beating Taipei 71/5 on day 1.

Sri Lanka kicked off the Asian Sevens third leg in grand style when they edged out China 19/12 in a tensed encounter. China scored first but Sri Lanka replied with two back to back tries through Danushka Dyan and Dhanushka Ranjan both tries were initiated by Reza Rafaideen who took the initial breakthrough on both occasions. Sooriyabandara dummied his way for the third try for Sri Lanka on stroke of halftime.
After the turn around China scored once but Sri Lankan defense held on well not allowing the Chinese outfit to score again.

Taipei Nil
Sri Lanka outclassed Taipei in a one sided affair in their last game of the day. Dixon, Ranjan and Dyan scored tries to take an easy 17 to nothing lead at the short breather.
After she short breather Gayan showed his experience in sevens rugby in a fantastic solo try followed by Kavindu Perera and Gayan's second try and ended with a try by Dixon. Sri Lanka won the match easily 43/0.
Women's

Sri Lanka Women's after some brilliant work in the first half almost held Hong Kong to none scoring first half encounter. They lost out the steam and the game in the end by 29/0 and lose out the Hong Kong sevens 2019 berth in the Women' segment.

Sri Lanka after a slow start progressed well to outclass South Korea 26/10. At the short breather it was 12/5 favoring Sri Lanka. But South Korea hit back with a try but two back to back tries by lanky Thanuja weerakody made Sri Lanka on the winning side. Sri Lanka scored three unanswered second half tries.
